There was an uproar over the 'Thakur' brand shoes in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh. The police first detained the shopkeeper selling the shoe on the complaint of Bajrang Dal workers, but later released him.
Near the town school in Gulavathi area of Bulandshahar, a young man named Nasir shops on the roadside and sells shoes. A young man named Vishal Chauhan who went to buy a shoe at his shop got angry when he saw Thakur writing on the sole of a shoe. The young man alleged that Nasser beat him up for protesting. The young man also lodged a police complaint in this case.

Meanwhile, Nasir was taken into custody when some Bajrang Dal activists pressured the police. However, he was later released after much review on social media. Explaining this, the Bulandshahr police said that "the young man was detained because there was a fight between the two sides".
Complainant Vishal Chauhan had said in the FIR that his religious sentiments were being hurt and demanded strict action against the shopkeeper as well as the shoe making company. The police arrested Nasir, the shopkeeper, but filed a case against the company by writing an anonymous rather than an FIR named. Later Nasir was also released.

After coming out of police custody, Nasir told the media, "Some youths came to my residence on Monday and asked for white soles. When the youths did not find the white soled shoes written by Thakur, they showed the photo of the shoes on the mobile Shoe was removed and the youth started committing uproar. After some time the police came and picked me up. I bring shoes from Delhi and sell them here. I don't make any. I have been selling these shoes for many years. "

It is being told that Thakur Shoes is an old and big shoe-making company of Agra, which has been making Thakur brand shoes for the last forty years. The shoes of this company are sold till western Uttar Pradesh including Delhi.
