Traditionally, industrialization and development have been synonymous with pollution. In the transition from agrarian economies to economies with a strong industrial weight, the countries have little or no concern about the environment and pollution and their effects on the environment and man. This was the reality of the Western world for much of the 19th and 20th centuries. In this process of burning fossil fuels, such as coal or oil, which are the main causes of the emission of CO 2  into the atmosphere, the countries that acquired a lot of weight from heavy industry or the extraction of hydrocarbons to access the “Development” have ended up becoming those that pollute the most.
