Ground Report | New Delhi: Thousands of doctors protest; Doctors from all government hospitals in Delhi gathered at Safdarjung Hospital on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, to register their protest against the delay in counseling by NEET PG and the mistreatment by the Delhi police against the doctor agitators el Monday.

More than 3,000 doctors have gathered in front of the emergency department of the hospital and are likely to move to the Supreme Court. They chanted slogans like "nyaye chahiye … nyaye chahiye" (We want justice).

Resident doctors of Delhi hospitals are protesting over the delay in NEET-PG 2021 counseling. These demonstrations have intensified after a clash between the police and doctors during the demonstration on Monday.

A protesting doctor has said that "Today we will march to the Supreme Court. Yesterday we tried to go to the Supreme Court but the police stopped us on the way and beat us up.

An MBBS doctor said, "There is already a shortage of doctors in the country and the demand is very high. We are asking to expedite the process. And what happened to us yesterday when we were protesting peacefully for our demands, police is using force, we are being beaten up.

NEET was scheduled for December 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The exam was finally carried out in September of this year. But counseling for admissions to enter medical schools was delayed, sparking the outcry.

"We are protesting as a last resort. The government is not listening. What should we do?" said a resident doctor among a large crowd of protesters shouting slogans.

Doctors have alleged that Delhi police personnel mistreated them during their protest last night. However, the police have denied that he used excessive force. Dramatic footage from last night showed police and doctors involved in fights. Hours earlier, protesters were prevented from marching toward the home of Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.

During the demonstration of doctors, there was a clash with the police on Monday. After which the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), an organization of doctors, has announced a nationwide strike. There will be a nationwide strike of resident doctors from Wednesday 29 December.

By issuing a press release late on Monday night, the association said that "against the use of force by the Delhi Police on the doctors who are peacefully protesting, the organization declares that we will be free from all types of health services from 8 am on December 29." Isolating myself."

Delhi Police and the protesting doctors - both sides claim that many people have been injured on their behalf.

Delhi Police has said that seven policemen were injured in Monday's clash.

At the same time, some videos have come out in which the police are seen using force on the protesting doctors and forcibly making them sit in vehicles.
