The mysterious death of six members of a family rocked Jammu on Wednesday after their semi-decomposed bodies were recovered from two houses in a posh town in the city.
Police identified the deceased as Sakina Begum widow of late Ghulam Hassan, her daughter Naseema Akhter, Rubina Bano, Zafar Ali, Noor-ul-Habib son of Habibullah and Sajad Ahmad son of Farooq Ahmad Magray
The bodies were recovered from the family's homes in the posh residential area of Tawi Vihar in Sidhra town. They have been sent to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu.
Police teams moved to the scene and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death. He said that soon after the incident was reported, a police team rushed to the spot and took bodies into their possession.
"All the deceased are from Kashmir and their families have been insinuated. An SIT is likely to be formed to investigate the case," police said of the deaths.
The bodies were recovered from the family's house in Sidhra locality. They have been shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital here, the police said.
Meanwhile, a senior doctor from GMC Jammu told KNO that all the bodies had a drip attached, while the exact reason for death will be known after the autopsy.
He said the autopsy will be carried out once his other family members arrive in Jammu.
A police official said an investigation has been launched and SIT is also likely to be formed to investigate the matter further.
