Responding to a question about US and IMF sanctions, a Taliban spokesman said: "We have not yet announced a government. It will be clear how the country's economic system works only after a government is formed." He said that the incoming government would restore the banking and tax collection system, strengthen the country's economy through agriculture and trade, and try to free all the reserves and things that have been frozen or confiscated.

“We want a government in Afghanistan that is strong and based on Islam and of which all Afghans are a part. We are working on it and waiting till we succeed in forming a strong and stable government."

He made it clear that the Taliban would not allow Afghan soil to be used against any other country. He was of the view that Pakistan and India should sit together to resolve all their outstanding issues as both are neighbors and their interests are interlinked.
