Ground Report Digital LLP, incorporated as a Limited Liability Partnership on June 4, 2019, is recognised as a startup by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Operating in the media & entertainment industry and digital media sector, the startup is dedicated to climate change advocacy through impactful journalism and media initiatives.
Co-founded by Pallav Jain and Komal Badoekar, alumni of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (Batch 2015-16), Ground Report remains independently owned. This ensures editorial integrity and autonomy, allowing the organisation to focus on accurate, transparent, and meaningful reporting on climate and environmental issues, especially from marginalised communities in India.
Ground Report is an ad revenue-driven startup with no external investors or funders. This independent ownership model supports long-term sustainability, adaptability, and innovation in journalism.
Funding and Partnerships
Ground Report receives financial support from the Independent and Public-Spirited Media Foundation (IPSMF), which has been funding its environmental reporting in Madhya Pradesh and India since November 2024.
