New Delhi welcomes GEAPP's energy transition dialogues starting today

New Delhi is set to host the Energy Transition Dialogue, a transformative conversation on climate change and sustainable development, from November 1 to November 3 at the Hyatt Hotel. The dialogue, hosted by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) and the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP), aims to critically assess the energy transition in the Global South.

The energy transition in the Global South is a complex journey towards sustainable, low-carbon, and equitable energy systems. Despite challenges in development and disparities in energy access, these countries are committed to transitioning away from fossil fuels for climate resilience and energy security.

The transition involves expanding renewable energy sources, improving energy efficiency, and deploying advanced technologies. It is closely linked to social and economic development, aiming to empower marginalized communities, create jobs, and improve living standards.

The dialogue will incorporate people’s aspirations into discussions on energy transition and plan interventions that go beyond energy policy to ensure an inclusive and prosperous transition. It is clear that developing economies will need international support, both financially and technologically, to make this transition.

The Energy Transition Dialogue 2023 will bring together domestic and international stakeholders to debate and devise solutions for these critical issues. The goal is to advance a people-positive energy transition in the Global South, with a particular focus on India.

Significant advancements in implementing green energy solutions across various sectors have been made by India. However, the aspirations of India's population and the global community must align with the shift towards a new green energy economy.

The incorporation of these aspirations into comprehensive discussions about energy transitions and forward-looking interventions that extend beyond the confines of energy policy is necessary for achieving this alignment. This inclusive and holistic approach ensures the energy transition benefits all stakeholders.
