These matches were also successful for betting, and the Satbet review will fill you in on the ins and outs of football betting.

France vs Argentina 3:3 (2:4 on penalties)

December 18, 2022, in Qatar, held the final of the World Cup 2022, where the national teams of Argentina and France met.

  • Argentina was in complete control of the game and, thanks to goals by Messi and Di Maria, led 2-0.
  • But in 97 seconds, Kylian Mbappe completely turned the game around, scoring a double in the 80th and 81st minute. T
  • The primary time ended 2-2, and the extra time gave us incredible soccer.
  • Messi's goal in the 109th minute restored Argentina's lead, but Mbappe scored again in the 118th minute, taking the game to a penalty shootout.

For Argentina, everything could have ended in the last minute of extra time; only an incredible save by Martinez saved Messi and co from conceding a goal.

As a result, 4:2, in a penalty shootout in favour of Argentina, Messi makes a dream come true and raises the coveted World Cup over his head.

Liverpool vs. Milan 3:3 (3:2 on penalties)

This match is one of soccer's top 10 most remarkable comebacks, so it would be a crime not to remember it here. In the 2004/05 Champions League final, AC Milan and Liverpool competed for the title of the best team in Europe.

The first half was dominated by Milan, who scored in the 1st minute of the match after a Paolo Maldini strike. Milan brought their lead to a smashing one thanks to two goals by Hernan Crespo. The team went into the break leading by three goals.

In the second half, Liverpool started their legendary comeback. In the 54th minute, Steven Gerrard reduced the gap to 2 goals, and then Vladimir Schmitzer and Xabi Alonso scored two more goals. The primary time ended with the score 3:3. Then the players were waiting for another 30 minutes of extra time and a penalty shootout, in which Liverpool won.

Italy - France 1:1 (5:3 on penalties)

The final match of the 2006 World Cup between Italy and France started with immediate results. Already in the 7th minute of the game, Zinedine Zidane realized a penalty, and France took the lead. However, in the 19th minute, Materazzi got back for his foul, scoring a goal and equalizing the score after a corner kick.

Then, the goal-scoring exploits of the teams stopped, although goalkeepers Buffon and Barthez made several incredible saves. Extra time was ending, but in the 110th minute, there was a legendary event: Zidane headbutted Materazzi in the chest, receiving a red card. As it turned out, the Italian had spoken insultingly about his sister while walking past Zidane.

Despite this suspension, Raymond Domenech's team made it to a penalty shootout, but in the end, Italy won. We may have seen very different numbers on the scoreboard if it had not been for that penalty.

Liverpool - Chelsea 4:4

In European competitions, meetings between English giants are commonplace, but in 2009, Liverpool and Chelsea played one of the most memorable matches in the history of the Champions League. In the first match, the Blues confidently won 1:3 away at Anfield. Reaching the semifinals was enough for them not to be defeated at home.

But things didn't go the way they intended. Fabio Aurelio and Xabi Alonso scored in the 19th and 28th minutes, bringing back the intrigue - 0:2, and the score on aggregate of the two matches became 3:3. At the start of the second half, Didier Drogba and Alex equalized, scoring in the 51st and 57th minute. Frank Lampard put Chelsea ahead in the 76th minute, but Liverpool would not give up: Lucas Leiva and Dirk Keith scored in the 81st and 83rd minutes to put the visitors back in front 3-4, reducing the deficit to a minimum. In the 89th minute of the match, Lampard scored his second goal and finally decided the fate of the confrontation - 4:4 in the game, a 7:5 total score in favour of Chelsea.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona 2:6

One of the brightest confrontations in the world of soccer is the matches between Real Madrid and Barcelona, which constantly bring us a lot of pleasant emotions. In the 2008/09 season, we had the opportunity to see one of the most impressive victories of Barcelona, who defeated their principal rival with a score of 6:2. This match also exposed us to Lionel Messi from a different side, namely in the position of the "false nine".

Madrid managed to score two goals in the opening stages of each half, thanks to the successful realization of chances by Gonzalo Iguain and Sergio Ramos. However, the Catalans pressed their opponents throughout the match and scored six goals, 4 of which Messi was involved. He cut himself and distributed assists to his partners; in particular, twice helped Thierry Henry. This match became one of the most spectacular classic derbies of Spain.

Brazil - Germany 1:7

The 2014 World Cup in Brazil saw a match that was one of the most shocking in the tournament's history. Germany faced Brazil in the semifinals of the game and won 1:7.

Four days before the match, Brazil lost their central star, Neymar, who was injured. Also unable to play was vital defender Thiago Silva, who was disqualified for yellow cards.

Germany scored in the 11th minute and did something unbelievable from the 23rd to the 29th minute - 4 goals in 6 minutes. The tournament hosts were shocked and couldn't do anything at all. In the 69th and 79th minutes, Schürrle brought the score to an obscene 0:7. In the 90th minute, Oscar scored a prestigious goal, which did not lift the spirits of either the players or the fans.

Luiz Felipe Scolari, coach of the Brazilian national team, admitted after the game that it was the biggest disaster Brazil had ever experienced.
