Mehbooba writes to LG
Mehbooba has written a letter to Sinha and expressed her concern over the “selective targeting” of PDP leaders and former MLAs asking them to vacate their official residences and their lives being threatened.
In a letter to the Lt Governor, Mehbooba said: “I am deeply concerned at the manner in which the administration is targeting PDP leaders and former MLAs at such a time. When militancy continues. Once again, they have been asked to vacate their official residence in Srinagar without providing any alternate accommodation.”
“What makes it even worse is that even after their repeated requests to provide protection to the villages where they originally live, these requests have been denied to you for reasons best known to you.” The state administration has cited the presence of terrorists for refusing to provide security. But the same administration has no qualms in evicting them to a secure government residence in Srinagar and deliberately harming them. “
If anything untoward happens, I will hold admin responsible: Mehbooba
According to the News Agency KDC “It is no secret that in recent times we have seen how elected representatives have been targeted and even killed because they are easy targets, especially when they are not provided with adequate security. I also want to bring to your attention that former PDP MLA Zahoor Ahmad Mir himself was a victim of militancy. His father was shot dead by, militants.”
“Let me also bring to your notice that the former MLA from PDP Zahoor Mir has been a victim of militancy himself. His father (former MLA Abdul Aziz Mir) was shot dead by militants (December 2002),” the PDP leader said.
“In such circumstances, I find it astonishing and extremely sad that while on one hand there is a section of new politicians who are given all kinds of facilities including security, their movement takes place all over Jammu and Kashmir. But on the other hand, the PDP’s Members are treated with utter contempt and contempt. It is almost as if the administration is deliberately putting their lives at risk.”
“I want to put it on record that if anything untoward happens to any person of my party, I will hold this administration responsible and hope you will intervene and take corrective steps immediately,” the letter said. “
