Ground Report | New Delhi: Meet rickshaw driver's son; Bringing laurels to the Valley, a 26-year-old Tanveer Ahmed Khan from Kulgam district has cleared the Indian Economic Service (IES) examination and secured the second position at the All India level. Tanveer is the first person to pass the exam from the valley.
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday released the results of the Indian Economic Service (IES) and Indian Statistical Service Examination (ISS) 2020. The exams were conducted from October 16 to 18, 2020, followed by interviews for the personality test in April. and July 2021.
Meet rickshaw driver's son,
Tanveer Ahmed Khan is a resident of Negeenpora Kund area of Kulgam and did his schooling there. Later Khan went to Government Degree College Boys Anantnag where he completed his graduation in Compound Arts stream. Khan has also done a Masters in Economics from Kashmir University in 2018. Later he went to Kolkata for M.Phil and was simultaneously preparing for IES.

Khan comes from a poor family but financial constraints did not stop him from dreaming big. Tanveer said that, “My father works as a seasonal rickshaw driver during the winter months in Punjab and obviously I faced financial constraints during my studies but I have always Encouraged by the support of my family, my will power will also increase.
Khan said that living in a remote village which lacks basic facilities, especially in the matter of internet, is very difficult for the students here. "Students here have to go to other places to use full speed internet," he said. Apart from parents, Khan credits his maternal uncle, who is a teacher by profession, for facing every difficulty to ensure his quality education.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha wrote on Twitter, “Congratulations to Tanveer Ahmed Khan of Nigeenpora Kund, Kulgam for getting AIR-2 in Indian Economic Service (IES) 2020. I have always believed that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are naturally capable and fulfilled. Capacity. His valor will inspire and motivate our youth. I wish him a bright career."
PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti tweeted, "My best wishes to Tanveer Ahmed of Kulgam for clearing the Indian Economic Service Examination (SIC)."

Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Saturday felicitated Tanveer Ahmad Khan, resident of Nigeenpora-Kund in district Anantnag for securing 2nd position in the Indian Economic Service (IES) session-2020. Bukhari congratulated the parents and teachers of Khan while asserting that the success stories like his have once again vindicated the belief in the capabilities and potential of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
