Mass shooting at a mall in El Paso, Texas, Know about shooter

At least one person has died and three others have been injured after a shooting in a shopping center in the US city of El Paso, in the state of Texas, near the Walmart in which 23 people died in 2019.

At 5:00 p.m. (local time), two armed men carried out an attack in the Cielo Vista shopping center, killing one person and injuring three others, who have been taken to a hospital. Two of the injured are in serious condition.

Police have arrested the two suspects in carrying out the attack and have closed the mall while they complete an investigation into the crime.

“The Police respond to the shots in the food court of the Cielo Vista shopping center, a scene that is still active. Avoid the area," the El Paso Police said shortly after the attack in a statement on the social network Twitter after the start of shooting.

The Cielo Vista shopping centre is just 100 meters from the Walmart in which another shooting in 2019 claimed the lives of 23 people and left two dozen injured. Then, the governor of Texas, Greg Abbot, called the attack "one of the bloodiest days" in the history of the state, all this amid the commotion generated throughout the country.

Gunman shot down by off-duty officer

The gunman, who opened fire at the Cielo Vista shopping center in El Paso killing one person, was shot down by an off-duty police officer.

The officer was working security at a store in the mall and did not fire his weapon, Acting Police Chief Peter Pacillas said.

Second suspect arrested

A second person was arrested after a shooting at a shopping centre in El Paso left one dead and three others injured.

Interim Police Chief Peter Pacillas said Cielo Vista Mall was still considered a crime scene and would remain closed until authorities complete their investigation.
