Last weekend, Hamas operatives caught Israel by surprise, infiltrating through the border fence under a barrage of rocket fire. In retaliation, Israel has launched a massive air and artillery bombardment of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.
On Monday, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) released images of key Hamas operatives they had eliminated, including Ali Qadi, Muetaz Eid, Zachariah Abu Ma’amar, Joad Abu Shmalah, Belal Alqadra, and Merad Abu Merad. The IDF described Hamas as a genocidal terrorist organization and vowed to eliminate it.
The Hamas 'Nukhba' commando force had Ali Qadi as a company commander before an airstrike killed him. An airstrike last week on Gaza also killed two other senior Hamas leaders, Zachariah Abu Ma’amar and Joad Abu Shamala. Abu Ma’amar participated in decision-making and planning of terrorist actions against Israel. Meanwhile, Abu Shamala held the position of Hamas' economy minister.
The IDF also claimed to have eliminated Belal Alqadra, the commander of the southern Khan Yunis Nukhba forces in the Gaza Strip on October 14. On October 15, the Israeli Air Force neutralized Muetaz Eid, the National Security’s Commander of Hamas.
Merad Abu Merad, a Hamas commander who allegedly led the October 7 attack on Israel, was also killed by Israel on Saturday. Merad was the head of the Hamas aerial system.
The IDF carried out strikes on over one hundred military targets located in Zaytun, Khan Yunis, and west Jabaliya. These strikes impacted the capabilities of the Hamas terrorist organization by targeting its operational command centers, military compounds, launchers, anti-tank missile launch posts, and observation posts.
