As the scorching heatwave grips Delhi-NCR, the Noida Authority has responded with proactive measures to safeguard the well-being of its employees and labourers, especially those engaged in outdoor activities.
The Noida Authority has revised the working hours for hundreds of its employees, focusing on those involved in fieldwork. The first shift for outdoor tasks will now start at 6 am to reduce the risks of heat exposure. The authority has also recommended adjustments for workers and labourers engaged in construction activities at private sites during summer.
Noida Heatwave: Check New Timing
The revised working hours for employees in development and maintenance roles in civil, water, garden, and electricity departments will be 6 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 8 pm. Sanitation workers under the Public Health Department will have a schedule from 6 am to 12 pm. These measures prioritize the workforce's health and well-being.
The Noida Authority has initiated the construction of a night shelter at the Noida Stadium in Sector 21A, recognizing the vulnerability of the destitute to heat-related illnesses. The shelter aims to accommodate 50 to 60 people and is scheduled to be operational from May 30, providing refuge to those in need.
Green Nets At Traffic Signals
In addition to these initiatives, the authority is installing green nets at major intersections to shield bikers from harsh sunlight at traffic signals. This enhances the city's readiness to combat the challenges of summer heat.
The Noida Authority’s swift action reflects its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents and workforce during the ongoing heatwave. These measures provide much-needed relief and support during this challenging period.
