Know about Rashmi Ahirvar shot dead in daylight in UP’s Jalaun

A tragic incident occurred on Monday afternoon in Jalaun district, Uttar Pradesh, where a female student was fatally shot in a crowded market.

College student shot dead

The victim had just finished his sophomore exams at a nearby university and was on his way to her house when the incident occurred. The victim's sister reportedly filed a First Information Report (FIR) against a young man who knew the victim.

The accused, identified as Raj, had reportedly been following and pressuring the victim to marry him. When the victim refused her advances, she allegedly shot him the same day.

According to Jalaun Police, Roshni Ahirwar, a 20-year-old student at Ram Lakhan Patel Graduate University in Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh, was shot dead by two bicycle assailants on Monday afternoon.

Roshni was returning home from college after sitting for her second-year bachelor's exam when the incident occurred at the Kotra crossing in the town of Jalaun.

One of the assailants shot him with a nationally manufactured revolver and then fled the place, abandoning the weapon. Police have filed an FIR based on the complaint filed by Roshni's sister.

“The main accused Raju was arrested, during interrogation, he revealed that they were in a relationship and due to some differences, the woman ended the relationship. He kept trying to get in touch with her again but she refused which angered Raju, following which he got agitated and killed her,” Jalaun SP Iraj Raja was quoted by the News agency ANI.

Family demands justice

Man Singh, Roshni's father, said that he had dropped her off at the university gate in the morning and that she had informed her family of her return after the exam.

Roshni's older sister informed the police that a local youth named Raj was harassing Roshni and had been pressuring her to marry him. Raj had even threatened to kill Roshni if he didn't accept her proposal.

Bhim Army Chief Chandra Shekhar Aazad has been a strong critic of the Uttar Pradesh government, stating that "under the rule of Prime Minister Yogi ji, oppression and atrocities against women have reached their peak."

He expressed his deep sorrow and strong condemnation of the incident in which Roshni Ahirwar was shot dead in broad daylight just 200 meters from a police station in Jalaun.
