Ground Report | New Delhi: Kashmiri journalist arrested; Sajad Gul, a journalist, has been arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy in Jammu and Kashmir Bandipora. Sajad Gul has been arrested after registering a case for posting a video. Sajad posted a video a few days ago.
In the video, Pare's relatives and relatives were seen protesting and raising slogans in the Hajin area of Bandipora after the death of Salem Pare, an alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba militant who was killed in a police encounter in Srinagar.
Sajad Gul is studying journalism from the Central University of Kashmir and also working as a trainee reporter with 'The Kashmir Wala' media house. Fahad Shah, the editor of 'The Kashmir Wala', told that Sajad Gul was already doing a story on this issue and during that time he had posted the video on social media.

Fahad Shah also said that this is not the first time that police action has been taken against Sajad, but even before that cases have been registered against him for his reporting and he has been intimidated. (Kashmiri journalist arrested)
Fahad condemned the arrest of Sajad and demanded his release. "Reporting a story is not a crime. But the reverse is happening here," he said. Police have registered cases against Gul under sections 120B (in favor of criminal conspiracy), 153B (claims prejudicial to national unity), and 505 (caution to the public) of the IPC.

Bandipora SP Mohammad Zaid said that Sajad Gul had instigated the women to protest and later uploaded a clip of the same protest and made it viral. He also said that a case has been registered against Sajad Gul earlier for false news and even today he has spread false news.
However, Sajad Gul's brother Javed Ahmed told that the allegations made by the police are all wrong. He said that how is it possible that he would have instigated someone to protest?
Sajad's brother Javed said, "On January 5, around 10 o'clock in the night, an army contingent took him from home. After a few hours, we came to know that he had been handed over to the police. It happened that he is lodged in Hajin police station."
