Karnataka: In a shocking incident, a tribal woman was allegedly stripped and paraded naked by a group of nine men in a village in Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district, the accused tore her clothes half-naked and made a video of the incident, Police said.

The incident took place on April 19 in front of several villagers in Guripalla village of Belthangady taluk of the district and an FIR has been registered against all the accused, he said.

Based on the complaint of a 35-year-old woman, a case has been registered against nine people, he said. According to sources, the woman has alleged that the accused tore her clothes half-naked and made a video of the incident.

The woman has said in the complaint that her elder sister and mother were also attacked.

The accused have been identified as Sandeep (30), Santhosh (29), Gulabi (55), Suguna (30), Kusuma (38), Lokayya (55), Anil (35), Lalitha (40) and Chenna Keshava (40), all belonging to the victim's village.

Police sources said that the incident took place when a team of revenue department officials, on an application given by the woman to the officials, reached the village to measure the government land on which the complainant and her elder sister reside.

Sources said that the accused objected to the work of the officials and forced the team that came to conduct the survey to leave the spot after creating a ruckus after which nine men attacked the woman.
