A seer in Karnataka, registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO), on Monday broke his silence on the matter, claiming it was part of a long-running conspiracy against him, it said. an inside job and promised to get out. clean in a case of sexual abuse of high school girls.
Sri Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru, the chief pontiff of the Sri Murugha Math, has been accused of child sexual abuse after two underage girls filed police complaints. The FIR also names Rashmi, the warden of the Murugha Math residential wing, minor priest Basavaditya, lawyer Gangadarayya and activist Parasivayya for aiding and abetting crime.

The seer had personally provided Linga Deekshe to Rahul Gandhi on August 3 when the Congress leader visited him while he was in Chitradurga. The Linga Deekshe is an initiation into the teachings of Lord Basaveshwara, the 12th-century reformer saint who founded Lingayat as a religion in a major departure from caste-dominated Hinduism.
Meanwhile, the seer approached the local court for early bail. The second additional district and sessions judge, Chitradurga, today accepted the guilty plea and sent the matter for the hearing on September 1.
“Many of you feel the pain of Murugha's mathematics as your own and I am here for you with courage, there is no situation where any of you need to worry. All together we will face the situation with courage, patience and intelligence, and we will find a solution”, said the seer. This was not the first time she had faced such a situation, as such conspiracies have been within mathematics for the last 15 years, she claimed.
“The conspiracies that were happening inside all these days are happening outside now. There will be a logical end to all problems, I need your cooperation to find that logical end,” he said.
There were some media reports earlier in the day that the seer was on his way to an undisclosed location and that his car stopped midway near Bankapura in Haveri district, and he was asked to turn back. There were also reports of him being arrested or detained, after which a math officer clarified that this was not the case and that the seer had gone to Haveri to meet a lawyer and would return in the afternoon.
The seer addressed the meeting on his return to mathematics. Stating that he is a "Mathadeesha or a Peethadeesha" (seminary pontiff) who respects the law of the land and provides all kinds of cooperation, the pontiff said there will be no "escapism" on his part.
The Chitradurga Rural police who received a complaint, have registered a case under Indian Penal Code sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 363 (kidnapping), 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy), 354 (A) (Sexual Harassment), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) against Basavarajan and Soubhagya. Chitradurga Rural police are investigating this case.
