The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit posted some photos on its official Twitter handle on Friday. The photo reads, “Jammu and Kashmir BJP state president Ravinder Raina, after passing out parade, Deputy SP and Sub Inspector bearing badge at Police Academy in Udhampur.”
This tweet and photo of BJP is getting a lot of criticism. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has tweeted, “Both the civil administration and the Jammu and Kashmir administration keep on pleading before the BJP officials. BJP state president is putting a badge in the police passing out parade. This has never happened in Jammu and Kashmir. They have no right to do so. This is shameful for this government.
Omar Abdullah wrote “It never fails to amaze me how most of the J&K administration, both civil & police, grovels in front of BJP functionaries. The state president pins badges & ranks in a police passing out parade having no position of authority in J&K what so ever. Shame on this government”.
Abdullah’s remark had come in wake of yesterday’s police ceremony in which Ravinder Raina, President J-K BJP, had awarded badges to newly recruited Deputy Superintendent and Sub inspector at Udhampur police academy.
The former Chief Minister further said that “the state president pins badges and ranks in a police passing out parade having no position of authority in J&K what so ever. Shame on this government.
Earlier Omar Abdullah has said that Srinagar was also shaken by the earthquake in northern India. He tweeted that he had pulled out the blanket he had in his hand and ran outside.
Omar tweeted: ‘For the first time since 2005, there was an earthquake that felt like running out of my house in Srinagar. I grabbed a blanket and ran. I don’t even remember picking up the phone now. That is why I could not tweet that there was an earthquake in Kashmir when the earthquake hit.’
