Indian Women Cricket Team faced the tough competition of New Zealand in their home ground of John Davies Oval, Queenstown, New Zealand in the only T20I. The series started in an unauspicious manner, as India lost to the kiwis by 18 runs.

In the first innings, the Nz posted a total of 155 runs, with significant contributions from Suzie Bates(36), and Sophie Devine(31). The two openers gave Nz a flying start scoring 60 runs in 8 overs. The blazing finish by Lea Tahuhu (27 of 14) helped Nz post a very competitive total.

World no. 1, Shafali Varma, and Yastika Bhatia gave India a steady start scoring 40 odd runs in 6 overs. Once, Shafali Varma was dismissed, the Indian team didn’t get any partnerships going. The team kept losing wickets at regular intervals, getting them further away from a successful run-chase. The team eventually made 137 at the end of their 20 overs, falling short of the target by 18 runs.

Lea Tahuhu is named the player of the match for her 27(14b, 4x4,1x6) with the bat and 1/27 with the ball.
