India will now import oxygen from abroad: media report

In view of the lack of oxygen in the country and the severity of corona infection, the central government has decided to import medical oxygen from abroad.

News agency ANI has reported from government sources that India will start importing oxygen from the US next week.

A government source told ANI, “Air India aircraft operating under the air bubble will bring oxygen concentrators from San Francisco and Chicago next week.”

Earlier on Saturday, the central government decided to give exemption on customs duty and health cess on the import of oxygen and related equipment for the next three months.

These decisions of the government have come amid increasing cases of medical oxygen deficiency and corona infection in the country.

Faced with strong criticism, the central government on Saturday decided to remove the basic custom duty on the covid-19 vaccine for the next three months in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In many parts of the country these days, there is a severe lack of oxygen, which is impacting the seriously ill covid patients.

Earlier The Delhi High Court said that if any officer of the center, state or local administration disrupts the oxygen supply, it will be ‘hanged’.

Maharaja Agrasen Hospital in Delhi has moved the High Court regarding the lack of oxygen for critically ill corona patients. The court made this comment while hearing this case.

A bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli said that those who obstruct oxygen access will not be spared.

During the hearing, the court has also reprimanded the central government.

The court told the Center, “On April 21, you had assured that 480 metric tons of oxygen would be supplied to Delhi every day.” when will it be?”

There is a severe shortage of liquid oxygen in most of the hospitals in the country’s capital, Delhi and its effect is on the seriously ill patients.

At the Jaipur Golden Hospital in Delhi, 20 patients died on Friday night due to lack of oxygen.

Government hospitals such as LNJP to private hospitals like Saroj and Fortis are pleading for help with the lack of oxygen. Some unaided hospitals have also moved the High Court.
