Ground Report | New Delhi: Hyderabad rape case; The body of Pallankonda Raju, accused of raping and murdering a six-year-old girl in Hyderabad's Saidabad area, was found on a railway track today. The Telangana Police has confirmed the discovery of Raju's body.

The body of the absconding accused Raju was found on the railway track near Ghanpur in Warangal. Police have told that Raju's body was found on the railway track on Thursday morning. He was identified by the marks and tattoos present on the body of the deceased.

Police said that his family members have been informed about the incident. Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao has also given information about this incident on Twitter. KTR tweeted, "DGP of Telangana just informed that the animal that raped the girl child has been traced and found dead on the railway track near Ghanpur."

Now after the post-mortem, the body will be handed over to his family. The police had started a campaign to nab Pallakonda Raju from September 9. He was accused of raping a six-year-old girl playing in front of the house by luring her with chocolates. The Telangana Police had announced a grant of Rs 10 lakh for anyone giving information about him.

Police also conducted vehicle checking at state borders to prevent him from escaping to neighboring states. The six-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and murdered on September 9 in Singareni Colony of Saidabad area. The girl's body was found in her house after midnight. The crime had sparked massive outrage across the city and the state, with many including state ministers demanding that the accused be 'encountered' like the accused in the Disha case in Hyderabad last year.

Amid mounting pressure on the state government to nab the accused, Director General of Police M Mahendar Reddy was personally monitoring the case. He directed the police commissioners to intensify the search operation. The Commissioner's Task Force and Special Operation Team (SOT) personnel were also deployed for the massive search operation. A day after the incident, the accused appeared in the CCTV footage installed in LB Nagar area.
