Prashant Kishor became 'use and throw' object for political parties; Polling for assembly elections are underway with political parties, and strategists keen to leave a mark of prominence. 'Appearance can be deceptive' and when it comes to politics, deception is at the core of it. Prashant Kishor is no exception, he has been a strategist for most parties, but not all glitter is gold. Prashant Kishor had a hell of a ride while building his career as a political consultant and strategist just to end up in a web of inner politics.
Prashant Kishor’s Rise to Fame:
Prashant Kishor found his career booming with the rise of Narendra Modi regaining his political power as the chief minister of Gujrat in 2011, and ended up winning the honor of being the prime minister of the country in 2014. This win of the Bhartiya Janta Party is closely linked and associated with the consultancy of Prashant Kishor that rose him to fame. Prashant Kishor’s election campaign’s group, Citizen for Accountable Governance came forward with the strategy of not promoting Hindutva before winning the elections and only indulging in it after rising to power, which is what believed as the strategy that led to the initial win for the party.
Prashant Kishor before being a consultant for BJP worked as a strategist for international politics at the United Nations. Later in 2015, he formulated a group I-PAC with a few of the members of CAG and campaigned for the win of Nitish Kumar as a Chief Minister of Bihar in the assembly election. He further went on to work with Congress in assembly elections of 2017 in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, where his analysis for Punjab worked but failed in Uttar Pradesh as BJP won with excessive votes.
In 2019, he worked with YSRCP as a political advisor in Andhra Pradesh. In 2021, Kishore acted as an advisor for the All India Trinamool Congress and leading to a massive win against BJP in Bengal’s Legislative assembly election. He also worked with DMK in the same year and was appointed as political advisor for elections in Punjab 2022.
Prashant Kishor’s Entrance in Inner Politics:
Prashant Kishor soon declared his retirement from political strategy. Although he maintained being in the headlines for being a dodgeball between different political parties. The first headline which made the news was his tussle with Nitish Kumar, as Prashant Kishor acted as an active political strategist for Janta Dal-United (JDU). Nitish Kumar didn’t agree to his idea of seat-sharing as suggested by a few media outlets while the senior party members state otherwise. Kishore didn’t agree with the stand of Nitish Kumar supporting BJP’s stance on CAA but Prashant Kishor didn’t have the credibility to prompt his stance.
PK’s Next minor feud or well disagreement came to light when Priyanka Gandhi announced PK’s will to join the party but later on it was reported that he didn’t join the party because some minute reason which wasn’t disclosed but many of the news reports indicates his interference in party politics, he didn’t believe in the policy of ignorance is bliss.
Further, his most talked about tussle was with Mamata Banerjee, Banerjee’s party AITC has had political rivalry within the party. This rivalry is directed towards the differences between the Old Guard and the new generation. The differences stem from Prashant Kishor’s I-PAC indulging in inner-party matters supporting the idea of bringing young blood to the party by prioritizing young candidates over the old guard of the party. This was then supported by Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of Mamata Banerjee and member of the party. Leading to the differences between the older serving party members and Abhishek Banerjee.
Another matter which escalated within the party due to the negligence of I-PAC was the tweet on One Person – One Post controversy. AITC political member and close associate of Mamata Banerjee, Chandrima Bhattacharya’s tweet on the same, escalated tensions and an outburst from Bhattacharya as she firmly denied the allegiance of the tweet and stated that all of her social media handles are handled by I-PAC.
Conclusion:
The willingness of Prashant Kishor to indulge and interfere in internal matters of political parties while not having any credibility to do so has what led him to become nothing but use and throw pen between parties. Kishore’s continuous interference in the internal matter of AITC has led to minute differences between Banerjee and her nephew and also shows a lack of insensitivity on the matter of One Person- One Post on his part.
