Azad to arrive Srinagar today, likely to meet Farooq Abdullah

Senior Congress leader and leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha,  Ghulam Nabi Azad is arriving  Srinagar today to meet Farooq Abdullah who was released Friday from detention after 7 months.

Top sources from Congress party confirmed Groundreport.in that Azad is arriving Kashmir valley today afternoon. However, the leader was not aware of the engagements of Azad in Srinagar. However, sources said that Azad will meet Farooq Abdullah at his Gupkar residence in the afternoon.

Farooq Abdullah was under detention since August last year, when the central government abrogated Article 370 and ended the special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir. Farooq Abdullah, who currently represents Srinagar constituency in Lok Sabha, was detained along with dozens of other senior politicians following the revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 and 35-A on August 5 last year. He was booked under stringent PSA and formally arrested on September 15. The detention order of octogenarian Abdullah was extended for three more months by the administration in December last year and again on March 11 for further three months.

Later Abdullah while interacting with media persons expressed happiness over his release and said that he will be completely happy when the leaders under incarceration will be released.
