Intense regional conflicts form the backdrop amid which a slew of celebrities, highlighted by their support for Israel, are actively taking to social media. Notably, celebrities such as Gal Gadot, Amy Schumer, and Jamie Lee Curtis are making headlines with their distinct expressions of solidarity. But what does this imply, and why is it significant?
Since Saturday — during the holiday of Simchat Torah — Hamas has attacked Israel, killing over 1,300 Israelis, injuring more than 3,300, and kidnapping an estimated 200 people, taking them to the Gaza Strip.
President Joe Biden condemned the terrorist attack over the weekend and expressed support for Israel’s right to self-defense. “The United States unequivocally condemns this appalling assault against Israel by Hamas from Gaza, and I made clear to Prime Minister Netanyahu that we stand ready to offer all appropriate means of support to the Government and people of Israel. Terrorism is never justified,” said the president in a statement. “My Administration’s support for Israel’s security is rock solid and unwavering.”
Numerous celebrities have extended their support to Israeli soldiers, civilians, and those impacted by the violence. Some of the Jewish and non-Jewish celebrities who have extended their support to the Israeli people in their time of need are listed below.
