Death mystery of Euphoria actor Angus Cloud

Angus Cloud, renowned for his portrayal of the local drug dealer Fezco "Fez" O'Neill in HBO's Euphoria, tragically passed away at the young age of 25. In an August 2022 interview with Variety, he candidly expressed his discomfort when fans compared him to his character.

"It does bother me," Angus revealed, referring to the common misconception that playing Fezco was an easy task. He dispelled the notion that it was simply a matter of being oneself on screen, stating, "When people are like, 'It must be so easy! You get to go in and be yourself.' I'm like, 'Why don't you go and do that?' It's not that simple. I brought a lot to the character. You can believe what you want. It ain't got nothing to do with me."

A statement issued by Cloud's family expressed his deep sorrow at the loss of his beloved son and described him as an incredible human being. The family revealed that Angus had recently laid his father to rest and was also dealing with mental health issues. They found some comfort in the idea that he has now been reunited with his father, who was his closest confidant.

In light of Angus Cloud's passing, the family issued a moving message, hoping that his passing will serve as a reminder to others that they should never feel alone and should not endure their struggles in silence.

Just two weeks before his passing, Angus had shared a touching photo of his late father on Instagram, captioning it "miss you breh."

Who was Angus Cloud?

Conor Angus Cloud Hickey, known professionally as Angus Cloud, was an accomplished American actor recognized for his exceptional portrayal of Fezco in the acclaimed HBO series, Euphoria. Born on July 10, 1998, in Oakland, California, Angus spent significant time with his family in Ireland.

As the eldest among his siblings, he had two younger twin sisters. Angus attended the School of Production Design at Oakland School for the Arts, where he coincidentally shared classes with his Euphoria co-star, Zendaya.

During an interview with Variety in August 2022, Angus revealed that he had endured "minor brain damage" resulting from a serious fall during his teenage years, which left him with a scar on the right side of his head.

Angus Cloud's acting career began unexpectedly when he was scouted by Euphoria's casting director, Jennifer Venditti, while working at the Woodlands restaurant near the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Despite having no prior acting experience, he landed the significant role of Fezco in the series.

Before Euphoria, Angus had been involved in his high school's theater department, primarily focusing on building sets and working on lighting and sound. Additionally, he played the character Walker in the comedy-drama film, North Hollywood.

How did Angus Cloud Die?

Angus Cloud's cause of death was reported as a "possible overdose." On July 31, 2023, around 11:30 am, Oakland PD responded to a 911 call made by Angus Cloud's mother, who reported that her son did not have a pulse. Unfortunately, Angus was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to sources close to the family, Angus had been battling severe suicidal thoughts following his return from Ireland, where he had laid his father to rest. The death of his father occurred just a week before Angus Cloud's passing, and it seems to have had a profound impact on his mental well-being.

“It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways,” the statement said.

In a statement on behalf of HBO, a spokesperson later added, per Deadline: Angus Cloud's passing has greatly saddened us. We recognize his immense talent and his cherished role within the HBO and Euphoria family. Our deepest condolences are extended to his friends and family during this challenging time.
