The counting of votes for the panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh continues from Sunday morning. Since the voting has been done through ballot paper, the results are delayed and the results are expected to be received by Monday afternoon.

The counting of votes is being done at 829 centers of the state.

In a notification issued on Sunday, the State Election Commission said that 1,12358 candidates for the post of Gram Panchayat member and 16,510 35812 for Gram Panchayat Pradhan and 35812 candidates for the post of Kshetra Panchayat member have been announced.

However, the results for the post of Zilla Panchayat have not been announced yet.

In Uttar Pradesh, questions have been raised from the beginning about the Panchayat elections amid the Corona transition. 

During the counting of votes, many such videos and pictures have come out from the state where people are tearing the corona protocol.

One such video has surfaced from Hathras where a huge crowd of supporters of political parties are crossing the wall and entering the counting center. No one has put a mask in this crowd and neither does social distancing seem to be following.

Apart from this, in the case of alleged death of hundreds of teachers due to corona infection during election duty in UP, the Primary Teachers Association has alleged that the State Election Commission did not follow the corona guidelines anywhere from training to voting, due to which the situation Frightened.

44307 candidates are in the fray for 3050 posts of Zilla Panchayat member in the state. And 3,42,439 candidates participated in the elections on the field panchayat member posts.

There were 4,64,717 candidates for the post of head and 4,38,277 for the posts of Gram Panchayat member.
