Thousands of aspirants candidates are using the hashtag #aptech to demand transparency in the exams and saying not to a contaminated agency to which the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board has granted a contract to carry out exams.

Several job applicants, who were protesting against hiring a company previously blocklisted to take written exams, were detained by police.

The J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) awarded a contract to tainted firm Aptech Limited, a Mumbai-based recruitment agency with a shady past across the country

Aptech company has a history of alleged malpractices and irregularities that can raise concerns about the quality and integrity of its services.

The government's decision to hire Aptech for the training program in Jammu and Kashmir, despite its previous blocklisting and involvement in multiple scams, has understandably caused protests and demands for greater transparency in the hiring process.

Aptech’s recruitment scandals

Aptech Limited, an Indian training and education company, has been involved in several hiring scandals in the country.

In 2016, the company was allegedly involved in the hiring scam of Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam, where irregularities and bad practices were found in the agency's hiring process.

As a result, 1188 of 1300 appointments were cancelled in 2020 after an investigation carried out by the Special Working Group (STF) of Uttar Pradesh.

In 2017, Aptech was accused of irregularities as a contracting agency for the recruitment of Rajasthan police officers, which led to the cancellation of the exam in 2018 after an FIR was filed.

In 2018, Aptech was hired by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) to perform an exam. However, irregularities were found through system monitoring and several other ways, which led to the elimination of the exam. Subsequently, Aptech was included in the blocklist for a period of three years, from May 2019 to May 2022.

Aptech also participated in the LLB course exam at the University of Delhi in 2018, where the exam documents were leaked, which caused the cancellation of the exam. The Superior Court of Delhi fined Aptech Limited with 10 00 000 rupees.

In 2020, irregularities were found in the examination of the Assam Irrigation Department made by Aptech Limited.

These recruitment scandals have tarnished the reputation of Aptech and raised serious questions about its ethics and practices.

In 2022, The administration of Jammu and Kashmir cancelled the exams for police sub-inspectors, junior engineers and financial accounts assistants in July 2022 after complaints of document leaks and other bad practices.
