In a leap for artificial intelligence and video technology, a new era of content creation has dawned with the advent of high-quality AI-generated human videos. The project, known as "Animate Anyone," is making waves, promising to redefine the way we perceive and produce video content.
AI-generated human videos utilize advanced artificial intelligence to create lifelike digital avatars that can speak, emote, and interact in a manner indistinguishable from real humans. These avatars are not confined to the realm of video games or virtual reality; they are now stepping into the broader landscape of media and entertainment, education, and even corporate communication.
Character Animation
Character Animation is about creating moving videos from still images. Diffusion models, known for their strong ability to generate images, are now being used for this. But turning images into consistent, detailed videos, especially for characters, is tough.
In The study, They’ve made a new system using diffusion models for Character Animation. We’ve built ReferenceNet to keep the character’s look consistent by focusing on important details. We’ve also made a Pose Guider to control the character’s movements and a special method to make sure the video frames transition smoothly.

How this method works
It start with a pose sequence that’s put together with Pose Guider and mixed with noise. Then, Denoising UNet cleans it up to make the video. Inside Denoising UNet, we use Spatial-Attention, Cross-Attention, and Temporal-Attention (shown in the dashed box). We use two things from the reference image: ReferenceNet gets the details for Spatial-Attention, and the CLIP image encoder gets the meanings for Cross-Attention. Temporal-Attention works over time. Lastly, the VAE decoder turns it all into a video clip.
For Fashion Video Synthesis, we turn fashion photos into animated videos using poses. We tested this on the UBC fashion video dataset.
For Human Dance Generation, we make images move like they’re dancing in real life. We tested this on the TikTok dataset.
The applications of high-quality AI-generated human videos are diverse and expansive. From simplifying video production processes to creating lifelike characters for virtual worlds and video games, Animate Anyone has the potential to disrupt and innovate various industries.
