42% ministers of Modi government are tainted

As per the Report out of 78 ministers of the Union Cabinet, 42 percent have declared criminal cases against them. Of these, four also have cases related to an attempt to murder.

15 new cabinet ministers and 28 ministers of state were sworn in on Wednesday. After this, the total number of members of the Council of Ministers has increased to 78.

According to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) report, about 24, or 31 percent, of the new council of ministers have declared serious criminal cases including murder, attempt to murder, dacoity, etc.

In addition, 70 (90 percent) of the ministers analyzed in the report are crorepatis. The average asset per minister is Rs 16.24 crore. Four ministers have mentioned assets worth more than Rs 50 crore. These ministers are Jyotiraditya Scindia, Piyush Goyal, Narayan Tatu Rane, and Rajiv Chandrashekhar.

33 out of 78 ministers are having criminal cases

According to the report released after analyzing the affidavits of all the ministers, 33 out of 78 ministers of the Council of Ministers (42%) have admitted to having criminal cases against them. Of these, 24 ministers i.e. 31 percent have serious cases registered.

Heinous offenses like murder, attempt to murder, robbery are registered in these cases. John Barla, MP from Alipurduar in West Bengal and Minister of State for Minority Affairs, has 24 serious sections and 38 other cases against him.

Cooch Behar MP and Minister of State for Home Nisith Pramanik have 11 cases of 21 serious sections. A total of 5 cases of attempts to murder are registered against Pankaj Choudhary, MP from Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh, who has been made Minister of State for Finance.

Accused of illegally taking financial benefits

According to the report, five ministers of the Union Cabinet are accused of spreading communalism and inciting religious sentiments. These include Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Giriraj Singh, Minister of State for Agriculture Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, and Coal Minister Prahlad Joshi. Seven ministers, including Nitin Gadkari, are accused of illegally taking financial benefits during the elections.    

According to the ADR report, 70 out of 78 ministers are crorepatis, which is 90 percent of the Modi cabinet. Of these, the assets of the 4 ministers are more than 50 crores. The maximum assets worth Rs 379 crore belonging to Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who belongs to the royal family.

Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal's total assets are more than 95 crores. MSME Minister Narayan Rane has assets worth more than 87 crores, while Rajiv Chandrashekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, has assets worth more than 64 crores.
