A minor girl was raped by eight men in a village in the Palghar district of Maharashtra on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. The accused raped the girl in an unoccupied bungalow before taking her to the seashore, where they sexually assaulted her again.

A spokesperson for the Palghar district rural police said: “A case of gang rape has been registered against the accused at the Satpati police station.”
Police further said that “in her complaint filed on Saturday, the victim said that her ordeal began at 8pm on December 16 and continued until 10am the following day, during which time the accused took her to an unoccupied bungalow. in the village of Mahim, where they took turns raping her. Later, they also took her to the seashore where they again sexually assaulted her in the bushes.”
Based on the complaint, the police arrested the eight accused in the early hours of Sunday morning and registered a case against them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections, including 376 (D) (gang-rape), 366 (A) (procuration of minor girl), 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he said.
