Ground Report | New Delhi: Why KCR attacking constitution of India; After the 2022 budget was unveiled on Tuesday, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao Tuesday unleashed a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the latter is "dressing for election." The CM also criticized the Union Budget for 2022, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday, calling it "terrible and Golmaal (chaotic)".

KCR recently made a statement regarding the Constitution of India. He had said, 'I believe that we need to rewrite the Constitution of India. Many other countries have rewritten their constitutions whenever they felt the need. New thinking, a new constitution should be brought.

He had said that he is also in talks with other parties on this issue. KCR also said he will be going to Mumbai to meet Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray to hold talks over a new alliance as there is a need for a qualitative leadership change in the country. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut confirmed talks over a separate alliance for the 2024 general elections. "We have been working for the past month and are trying to form a separate alliance of all opposition to contest the 2024 polls together," Raut said.

When NDTV asked KCR if his trip with PM would be "uncomfortable" after his comments, he said it's a "routine thing, a protocol requirement." Sharing (a podium or a helicopter ride) is not the issue at all,” he said, adding that attacking Modi in politics is his policy. “Even while sitting next to Modi in his helicopter, I will tell him the same thing."

Congress unit of Telangana on Wednesday tweeted "This fellow is not capable of issuing promised Job notifications and he talks about rewriting Indian Constitution. Modi is a child compared to KCR when it comes to diverting public attention."

BJP State Chairman and Bandi MP Sanjay Kumar claimed that KCR has such a plan because it cannot tolerate SC and ST being elected to Parliament and Legislative Assemblies.

The KCR's feudal and monarchical thinking is the motive behind this alleged conspiracy, the BJP leader said, adding that even a leader like Indira Gandhi lost the election when she sought to change the fundamental principles of the Constitution. "If leaders like Indira Gandhi were disappointed when they wanted to change the Constitution, after all, KCR, what are you," he said, demanding an apology.

However, leaders of the ruling TRS, including former Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, defended Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who has come under intense criticism for what has been perceived as a proposal for a new constitution.

“We need to discuss what the Chief Minister said, not the fuss,” TRS leaders said. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday along with Government Whip Balka Suman and MLA Ch Kranthi Kiran, Srihari said that under the Constitution, the government cannot cross the 50 per cent reservation threshold.
