Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has been in a war of words with the state government for a long time. DMK MLA, T R B Rajaa on Thursday said the governorship is "probably the most useless thing" in democracy, saying a political appointee is trying to "sabotage" the functioning of a chosen regimen.
Rajaa said on his Twitter account: "The #Governor's post is probably the most useless thing in a democracy. A political appointee trying to sabotage the functioning of an elected regime is a blot on #democracy. #GetOutRavi."

He is the secretary of the IT wing of the DMK, a lawmaker and the son of the top party leader T R Baalu. He posted a photo of "the most useless things in the world" and included a photo of Ravi.
The MLA published in Tamil a popular saying by DMK founder CN Annadurai asking whether a goat requires a beard and whether a state needs a governor, implying that both are not needed. He posted an image of a goat with a beard alongside a photo of Ravi.
The ruling DMK disagrees with Ravi on assent to the bills passed by the Assembly and on issues related to ideology. On social media, several DMK workers criticized Ravi for not passing a bill (to replace an ordinance) in time to ban online card games. The ordinance has expired.

Ruling party accused Ravi of right-wing ideology
The ruling party has often accused Ravi of embracing a right-wing ideology and taking the BJP line on issues including the National Education Policy. Defending federalism and state autonomy has been part of the DMK's ideology since its founding in 1949.
NEET has been selected to enroll in medical education across the country. State education students were unable to pass the REQUIRED test because the REQUIRED test was introduced into the federal government's curriculum. Even the students who scored the highest in the state failed the NEET exam. As a result, protests broke out in Tamil Nadu demanding the cancellation of the NEET exam.
Consequently, the new bill was unanimously passed in the Tamil Nadu Assembly on September 13 last year and was sent to the Governor for approval.
However, the governor of Tamil Nadu delayed sending the bill to the president. In this situation, with no passage of the bill for the past 4 months, suddenly the Governor of Tamil Nadu, RN Ravi, sent it back to the President for reconsideration of the NEET Exemption Bill, which was passed unanimously in the Assembly from Tamilnadu.
This decision by the Governor has stirred up the politics of Tamil Nadu. Leaders of various political parties, social organizations and student organizations have strongly condemned the Tamil Nadu Governor's decision. Meanwhile, netizens have also been posting protests on social media.
