Who is Pushpraj Jain, How he is related to Piyush Jain?

Ground Report | New Delhi: Who is Pushpraj Jain; Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday (December 28) denied any connection between his party and Kanpur-based perfume merchant Piyush Jain, who was arrested by GST officials on charges of evasion of taxes.

The BJP has launched an all-out offensive against the Samajwadi Party for the recovery of a huge amount of cash from Kanpur businessman Piyush Jain in a raid by tax agencies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused Akhilesh Yadav's party of spreading the "perfume of corruption" throughout Uttar Pradesh during his time in power.

However, Akhilesh Yadav not only categorically denied any link between his party and the accused perfume dealer but also claimed that the BJP got "his own businessman" to raid "by mistake". He said the "wrong Jain" was raided by central authorities, one who has ties to the BJP.

Yadav said that the SP'Jain is Pushpraj 'Pampi' Jain, an MLC whose latest perfume he had released in recent months, calling it "Samajwadi ittra". “By mistake, the BJP managed to raid its own businessman. Instead of the leader of the SP, Pushpraj Jain, he raided Piyush Jain, "he told reporters on Tuesday.

Launching a coup against the ruling BJP, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh said: "Due to Digital India's mistake, he got his own businessman attacked."

In multiple raids recently conducted by the Income Tax department and the Central Board of Indirect Tax and Customs, around Rs 257 million in cash, 25kg of gold, and 250kg of silver were seized from Piyush Jain's home in Kanpur, as well as his home and factory in Kannauj, according to an official. On Monday, a court in Kanpur ordered Piyush Jain for 14-day judicial custody.

According to a report by The Indian Express, Pushpraj Jain and Piyush Jain come from the same neighborhood of Jain Street in Kannauj of UP and are in the same business, perfumes.

Who is Pushpraj Jain

Pushpraj Jain, 60, on the other hand, is called a "philanthropist" in Kannauj and a politician who also owns a gas pump and cold storage unit. He also earns from agriculture and has a home and office in Mumbai as well.

Akhilesh Yadav said that it was our MLC Pushpraj Jain, who made perfume for us. Samajwadi Attar (perfume) was launched by SP MLC Pushpraj Jain and not Piyush Jain.

Pushpraj Jain was elected as MLC from Etawah-Farrukhabad in 2016 and he is the co-owner of Pragati Aroma Oil Distillers Pvt Ltd. MLC Pushparaj has a house and an office in Mumbai, from where it deals with exports to around 12 countries mainly in the Middle East. Two of his three brothers work in the Mumbai office while the third one works with him on a manufacturing set-up in Kannauj.

According to his election affidavit in 2016, Pushpraj and his family have movable assets worth Rs 37.15 million and real estate assets worth Rs 10.10 million. He has no criminal record and studied until class 12 at Swaroop Narayan Intermediate College in Kannauj.
