The Income Tax Department team raided the residence and locations of Piyush Jain, a large perfume merchant from Kannauj and close to Akhilesh. Piyush Jain came into the limelight after making a socialist perfume.

IT conducts raids

In Kanpur, the office and residence of prominent perfumer Piyush Jain were raided by the GST Directorate General of Intelligence (DGGI) and IT teams, and several million rupees worth of cash and other suspicious documents were recovered. According to police officers accompanying the raid team, cash worth Rs 90 million has been recovered from four offices of Jain, which has a perfume industry in Kannauj.

Piyush Jain had launched Samajwadi Attar (perfume) last month in the presence of the head of SP, Akhilesh Yadav. His brother Pammi Jain is a high-ranking leader in the Samajwadi Party. In addition, IT teams also raided the facilities of the betel trader KK Agarwal in Kanpur.

Samajwadi Party President and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav launched the Samajwadi perfume on November 9, 2021, at the party's headquarters in Lucknow. Akhilesh Yadav and other party leaders displayed perfume bottles in their hands from the stage.

The head of the SP said that for the elections of 2022, this perfume has been made from 22 flowers. Akhilesh Yadav had said that after smelling it, he would be known by the fragrance that will come in 2022. The perfume with 24 flowers will launch in 2024.

The raid was reportedly carried out by DGGI officials from the Gujarat and Kanpur wings. The Shikhar Pan Masala (chewing tobacco) facility located in the Transport Nagar area of Kanpur was also raided. Government officials seized invoices, invoices for raw materials and finished products, and other related documents in the raid.

His company conducts the perfume manufacturing business in Kannauj and from the showrooms located in Mumbai, his products are sold all over the world. "He is primarily in the Kannauj-based perfume business, while the group owns a showroom in Mumbai from which perfumes are sold across the country and abroad".
