Ground Report | New Delhi: Who is Pushkar Singh Dhami; Pushkar Singh Dhami will be the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. He represents Khatima seat of the Kumaon region in the assembly and has been elected MLA for the second time.

After being elected the leader of the BJP Legislature Party, Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “My party has given an opportunity to a common worker to serve. We will work on public issues with everyone’s cooperation.”

On the election of Pushkar Singh Dhami as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party, party MP Ajay Bhatt said that he is “humble and honest and we expected this (decision).” He claimed that in the year 2022, the party is going to win with more majority than before.

He was born on 16 September 1975 in Tundi, Tehsil DD Haat, Gram Sabha of Pithoragarh. From his student life, he was inclined towards politics. He was working on various posts of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. Later he was also made the state president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha twice.

After the formation of Uttarakhand, he worked with the Chief Minister of the state as an advisor till 2002. He served as the Vice-Chairman of the Urban Development Monitoring Council from 2010 to 2012. In 2012, he became an MLA for the first time by winning the assembly elections.

The Congress party took a dig at the speed at which the Chief Minister is being changed in Uttarakhand. Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted that in Uttarakhand, BJP changes chief ministers like toys.

Who is Pushkar Singh Dhami

Pushkar Singh Dhami, the future Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, is a two-time MLA from Khatima seat of Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand.

And now a new record is going to be added to his name. He will be the youngest Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. At the age of 45, he will take over the reins of the state. Dhami is considered close to Bhagat Singh Koshyari, former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and Governor of Maharashtra.

When Bhagat Singh Koshyari was the Chief Minister, Pushkar Dhami used to be his OSD. He has never held the post of any Cabinet Minister or Minister of State till now. Apart from this, he does not have any experience of running the government. Pushkar Dhami comes from the Kumaon division of Uttarakhand and belongs to the Rajput caste.
