Ground Report | New Delhi: Who is Mohit Kamboj; A magisterial court here on Monday granted bail to a cabinet minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik in connection with a criminal defamation complaint filed against him by former Mumbai BJP youth wing president Mohit Bhartiya (Kamboj).

On 9 October, at a press conference, Malik claimed that Indian's brother-in-law Rishabh Sachdev, along with two others, was present at the Mumbai cruise party and was dropped by the NCB.

Bhartiya had issued a legal notice to Malik on October 9 asking him to cease and desist from making further statements, but the PNC leader continued to make accusations. On October 11, a second legal notice was sent to Malik to prove what he had said or to stop making such claims.

Who is Mohit Kamboj

Mohit Kamboj alias Bhartiya, a native of Varanasi, resides in Mumbai. He came to Bombay in 2004. He is a gold and diamond dealer. He was also National President of the Indian Bullion and Jewelry Association (IBJA) from 2012 to 2019. He had changed his last name to Bhartiya in January 2019.

Kamboj's claim to fame was in 2019 when he changed his last name to Bharatiya. He reportedly changed his last name to inspire people to rise above caste, creed, religion, and other factors that cause division in society.

"I have changed my last name to Bharatiya and this will be my identity from now on," he told PTI. He previously was president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Mumbai. From 2012 to 2019, he was also the National President of the Indian Bullion and Jewelery Association (IBJA).

In early 2020, Kamboj was booked by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for alleged criminal conspiracy, deception, and forgery related to a 67 million rupee loan from the Bank of India.
