A Singapore-based YouTube celebrity Darryl Ian Koshy aka Dee Kosh has been sentenced to 32 weeks in prison by a court for sexually assaulting an underage teenager. He offered a victim teenager S$2,000 in exchange for providing sex service while the victim was repeatedly refusing. Dee Kosh has sexually assaulted many other teenage boys, Victims of his Predatory Nature came out on Instagram and revealed his offenses.
He was charged with the Children and Young Persons Act for attempts to sexually exploit the young and Films Act after he had filmed videos of himself engaging in sexual acts with another man.
Who is Dee Kosh?
Dee Kosh was first a radio presenter and then started his own YouTube channel. In 2011, he entered the content industry.
Kosh's comedy videos earned him thousands of subscribers in the early stages of social media. The Korean smash hit Gangnam Style was parodied by Dee Kosh which garnered 3 million views.
Kosh's radio career began in April 2012 as a host on 98.7 FM. In the year 2014, he had joined Power 98.
Dee Kosh's crimes
Dee Kosh committed the first crime in 2016-2017 when he made a video of the victim having sex without permission.
The second victim said that he was under 18 when he first met Dee Kosh. Then Dee Kosh gave him insane sexual proposals. Kosh then offered the victim S$400 to perform a sexual act on him, later raising this to S$2,000 after the victim repeatedly declined.
Dee Kosh also used to force the third victim to have sexual favor by threatening to make private chats public.
The three victims said that they were afraid of what would happen to them if they expose a celebrity. That's why they were afraid to complain.
In 2020, when a Victim posted a post of sexual harassment by Kosh, the rest of the Victims also opened up their courage and came forward.
Kosh was arrested by the police in October 2020. Police had recovered 25 obscene videos from his house.
Power 98 immediately suspended Kosh.
The court found Kosh guilty of all these charges and sentenced him to 32 weeks in prison.
