A 42-second clip featuring the models has circulated on Instagram and Tik Tok since it was uploaded last week. The clip has been labelled "tasteless" and even "blasphemous." But of course, it also famously worked for Horonim's mission to promote the mortuary, which provides funeral services "for all categories of citizens."

The funeral service noted in the announcement that they have their "own staff of qualified agents, who oversee the organization of the funeral at every stage, from the paperwork to the rite."

The video was posted last week on Instagram and TikTok and has since gone viral and received backlash. The ad campaign is said to have been created by Horonim.ru's 29-year-old Social Media Manager (SMM), Albert Mazzafarov.

"Why do we need naked women to advertise something so private and shady?" asked a horrified commenter, who then suggested that the service was "advertising for death". "The real horror is that people have lost all boundaries," chimed in another. "Has the world gone mad".

“It’s horrible. They are out of their minds,” one commenter wrote, while another questioned: “Isn’t this blasphemy? I think it is.” “Why do we need nude women to advertise something so private and somber?” asked another while one pointed out the clip is “advertising for death.”

While much of the uproar seems like harmless online outrage, the New York Post notes that Russia recently enacted an indecency law, which is designed to crack down on people who illegally post bawdy images taken in religious or state buildings.
