Ground Report | New Delhi: Two tribal girls raped; A 33-year-old man, posing as a police officer, allegedly raped two minor tribal girls in the Vizianagaram district on Saturday. The incident came to light on Sunday after the girls, along with their teachers and the principal, filed a complaint at the Kurupam police station on Saturday night.

The defendant has been identified as V Rambabu, a makeshift criminal who has been involved in 13 property crime cases in the past. The police arrested the accused and brought him before the Magistrate. According to sources, the two girls, who are studying their first intermediate year at a government residential university, went to the Ravada village in Jiyyammavalasa Mandal in the Vizianagaram district together with her male friends to hang out. near a body of water on New Years Day.

According to a report by The Times of India, the two girls are studying their first intermediate year at a government residential university: they went to Ravada village in Jiyyammavalasa Mandal in Vizianagaram district together with their male friends to spend time near a body of water on New Years Day. .

Noticing the girls and boys in the lonely place, Rambabu went to the place on his bike and took some photos posing as a policeman. Later, he asked the boys to leave the place and took the girls to the nearest oil palm orchards below the limits of the Kurupam police station on his bicycle.

He allegedly raped the girls by threatening to send their photos to their parents and teachers. Rambabu also threatened to upload a video of the incident on social media platforms, if they inform someone about what happened. However, the girls recounted the entire episode to their warden after arriving at the shelter on Saturday night.

Following the agitation of the local residents and based on the complaints made by the girls, the police arrested the accused.

District Police Superintendent M Deepika said the victims have been taken to a hospital for treatment. There are 13 registered cases against the defendants. The accused has been registered under sections 376, 506 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO).
