Shahrukh Khan’s Dunki is to be postponed! Confirmation awaited

Dunki can be postponed. According to certain reports, there may be delays in the post-production schedule, indicating that Dunki might not be completed by its expected date of 22 December 2023. However, this has not been officially announced yet. Notably, the release of Jawan was also previously postponed at the last minute due to similar issues.

An additional report infers the possibility of a new release date announcement coinciding with Shahrukh Khan's birthday on 2nd November. However, it seems highly improbable to me. Presently, Red Chillies' primary focus entails concluding the theatrical run of Jawan, which continues to garner substantial revenue and has globally amassed over 1100 crores to date.

No Dunki vs Salaar?

This speculative report has given fans of South Indian 'Rebel Star' Prabhas yet another opportunity to poke fun at Shahrukh Khan. Adherents of the fanbase are insinuating the delay of Khan's film is due to potential financial losses, given its expected release coincides with Prabhas's blockbuster 'Salaar'. They are predicting that 'Salaar' will shatter all previous box office records set by Indian Cinema. Adding to this frenzy are the fans of 'Pathaan' and 'Jawaan', two other anticipated 2023 releases starring Shahrukh Khan.

In related news, fans have argued that Salaar and Dunki are remakes rather than original films. Consequently, the online debate has taken an unsavoury turn.

About the film

Starring Shahrukh Khan and Taapsee Pannu in pivotal roles, the film is penned by Abhijat Joshi alongside Rajkumar Hirani, who also stewards the project as director. The film, a collaborative effort of Red Chillies Entertainment, Jio Studios, and Rajkumar Hirani Films, is slated for international distribution by Yashraj Films. The international release was initially planned for the 21st of December 2023, a day prior to its current schedule.
