Another remake dilemma: Thalapathy Vijay 'Leo' copy/inspired by which Hollywood movie

Tamil film superstar Thalapathy Vijay is back with his latest film titled ‘Leo’, written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The trailer of the film was out a while back and is already creating rage on YouTube. There are some incredible scenes and sequences in the film. Watch the to figure it out.

For a long time, Bollywood was criticised for picking up stories, and sequences from Hollywood movies. Lately, South Indian films and directors are being questioned for their ‘inspirations’ The Latest in line is Lokesh Kanagaraj. ‘Leo’ is the story of a person running away from his past, and runs a bakery/confectionary store in the mountains, possibly Kashmir. This plot is quite similar to the Hollywood film ‘A History of Violence’, Starring Viggo Peter Mortensen. In the Hollywood film, the protagonist runs a diner in a small town, until his past comes to find him.

Interestingly, in the Hindi trailer, there was a dialogue which suggested maybe there is a double role. At the same time, there are at least three antagonists from what I could count. Hence, there might be some inspirations, but this looks like a very original Lokesh Kanagaraj film.

The film was also criticised for copying the film poster with Game of Thrones Jon Snow poster.

Hype

There are visuals of people crowding outside the theatres to just watch the trailer of the much-awaited film. People have vandalised the theatres. The tickets in the overseas market, particularly the UK are sold out, and breaking records of Rajnikanth’s Jailer.

The film is also part of Lokesh’s Lokiverse where he connects the storyline from his last release Kamal Hasaan starrer Vikram. That film too was a big box office success.

People are insisting on a dedicated Hindi-release, with great marketing. But, as per reports, they are not on cards yet.
