Why Arrest Coaching Mafia is trending? A Complete story

Ground Report | New Delhi: Why Arrest Coaching Mafia is trending; Students who sat for the 2021 Non-Technical Popular Categories exam of the Railway Recruitment Board staged a protest at Bihar Sharif railway station on Tuesday alleging discrepancies in the results.

Thousands of students who showed up for the railway draft have been protesting for the last three days. The protests involve the 2021 Railway Recruitment Board Popular Non-Technical Categories (RRB-NTPC) exam.

On Wednesday, a passenger train was set on fire and another was attacked with stones in Bihar in violent student protests against a railway job exam on a day the country celebrates Republic Day.

Speaking to ANI about the student protest, Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said:

"I ask students not to take justice into their own hands. We will seriously address the complaints and concerns raised by them." "Our intention is to resolve this problem quickly. A panel will examine the representations of the candidates. The chief ministers are working sensitively, we are in contact with them. We urge the candidates to formally lodge their complaints," he added.

Why are the students protesting?

Students have objected to the Railways' decision to take the exam in two stages, claiming that the second stage is unfair to those who passed the first stage, the results of which were published on January 15.

Around Rs 1.25 million had applied for the exams which had advertised more than 35,000 positions from level 2 to level 6, with starting salary ranging from Rs 19,900 to Rs 35,400 per month. Around 60 lakh people showed up for the exam. The RRB-NTPC exams were conducted in seven phases between December 28, 2020 and July 31, 2021 to fill thousands of vacancies.

Applicants who have passed RRB NTPC CBT 1 will now appear for the RRB NTPC CBT 2 exam. It is reported that more than thirty-two thousand open positions were filled through the RRB NTPC recruitment process.

The Railway Recruiting Board (RRB) was scheduled to release the result by category in CBT 2. However, it was published in the result of CBT 1. One user tweeted: “You said you would pass 20 times as a candidate but you actually only passed 4 times as a candidate, if this is not a scam, then what is this?

What is the Ministry of Railways saying?

According to a statement issued by the ministry, a high-powered committee has been formed to analyze the concerns and doubts raised by the applicants. The committee, according to the notice, will be headed by Deepak Peter, the Senior Executive Director (Industrial Relations) of the Railway Board.

The notice says that candidates can submit their complaints and suggestions to the committee at [email protected] within three weeks, until February 16.

"Candidates have three weeks, until 02.16.2022, to present their concerns, and the committee, after examining these concerns, will present its recommendations by 03.04.2022," the notice read.

"While the first stage CBT was a common exam for all candidates, paragraph 13.2 of the notice clearly states that in the second stage CBT there would be a separate exam for each group (i.e. Levels 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6) with different degrees of difficulty. Consequently, all positions at the same level will have a common CBT of 2nd stage. Therefore, if a candidate is eligible and has opted for more than one level (according to the qualification educational), he / will have to appear in the corresponding CBT of the second stage for each level, as indicated in paragraph 13.6, since the standard (difficulty level) for each group of positions will be different (i.e. of level graduate or undergraduate),” the ministry said.
