Malala tweets On Karnataka Hijab Row

Ground Report | New Delhi: Karnataka Hijab Row; Nobel laureate and women's rights activist Malala Yousafzai on Tuesday expressed concern over recent incidents of women in Karnataka not being allowed to attend classes wearing hijab while urging Indian leaders to "stop marginalization" of Muslim women.

"It's appalling for girls to refuse to go to school in their hijabs," she tweeted. "The purpose of women remains - to wear more or less. Indian leaders must stop the marginalization of Muslim women."

However, Regarding the ongoing controversy over the hijab issue in Karnataka, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has said that jihadis and their advocates should desist from anarchy under the guise of hijab.

VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal has issued a statement saying that the dispute which started from Udupi in Karnataka is actually a conspiracy to spread jihadi anarchy under the guise of hijab. VHP's Union Joint General Secretary Surendra Jain has said that it can only be called Hijab Jihad.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad has said that radical Islamic organizations like PFI are conspiring to spread anarchy across Karnataka. The statement said – the speed with which the Islamic world and Toolkit gangs across the world have reacted to this, clearly shows that they do not want to miss any opportunity to spread anarchy in India. The VHP has said that they will not be able to succeed due to the alertness of the Karnataka government and the activism of the Hindu society.

The controversy, which started with a college in Karnataka's Udupi last week, has now spread to many parts of the state. For this reason, the schools and colleges of the state are closed for three days. Pakistan's women's rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai also issued a statement in favor of Muslim girl students in this case. Two ministers of the Pakistan government had also strongly criticized the Modi government, calling it a fundamental right.
