Ground Report | New Delhi: Charu Sharma IPL Auction; Cricket presenter Charu Sharma will replace Hugh Adams, who fell in the middle of the stage during the Indian Premier League 2022 auction here in Bangalore on Saturday.
The IPL auction fell while bidding for Sri Lankan spinner Venando Hasaranga. A medical team visited him immediately after the incident and he is now stable, the IPL added, adding that Charu Sharma will continue the auction process throughout the day.
Meanwhile, the auction is scheduled to resume at 3:45 pm, but Admeeds will not be conducting the auction. Cricket presenter Charu Sharma will take charge for the remainder of the day as the admins have been asked to rest after the unfortunate incident.
“Hugh Adams during the IPL auction had unfortunately collapsed due to Postural Hypotension during the IPL auction. He was treated by the medical team soon after the incident and his condition is stable. Charu Sharma will continue with the auction proceedings today.” ,” IPL tweeted.
Soon after the incident, the cricket fraternity was concerned for Hugh Adams as a flood of tweets poured in for his well being. The BCCI was also quick to provide a quick update about his health, leaving many in a sigh of relief. “Our auctioneer is stable. Doctors are treating him. He should be back for the next set,” BCCI had tweeted.
The franchise owners were shocked when Hugh Adams fell to the ground during the auction for Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga. An intense bidding war was brewing for the Sri Lankan spinner and the Admids were making sure the franchise broke their bank. When the bid for Hasranga exceeded Rs 10 crore, with a base price of Rs 1 crore, Admieds collapsed on the stage floor.
As it turned out, Adams was a bit shaken up after falling from a height in the IPL 2022 auction hall. He was given medical aid. Official broadcaster Star Sports also confirmed that Adams is doing fine after the fall on Saturday.
