How Ukraine Treating its wounded soldier

The Russian Ministry of Defence stated late on Monday through a statement that "as a result of negotiations with representatives of the Ukrainian Army besieged in the territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant, an agreement has been reached on the evacuation of the wounded." After the agreement, Ukraine has already evacuated 264 wounded soldiers who until now remained entrenched in the Azovstal steelworks, in the port city of Mariupol.

At least 264 Ukraine soldiers who have been enduring subhuman conditions for weeks at the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol have managed to leave the plant through a humanitarian corridor.

Many medical volunteers flock to small towns along the front lines in eastern Ukraine to help treat soldiers wounded during the war with Russia.

The last bastion of resistance in the city, besieged since March 2 and controlled for weeks by the Russian occupation forces and fighters of the self-styled Donetsk People's Republic, has reached towns in the area controlled by pro-Russian separatists in the Oblast from Donetsk.

It is not a flight or an ingenious military operation, but, it seems, a success of diplomacy. "As a result of talks with representatives of the Ukrainian troops who have been blocked at the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol, an agreement was reached on May 16 to evacuate the wounded," the Ministry announced on Monday night. of Defense of Ukraine.

Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine on the 82nd day since the beginning of the war in Eastern Europe. However, as attacks continue in Donbas, Mariupol and Odesa, diplomatic concerns now focus on the reactions of neighbouring Finland and Sweden and their firm intention to join NATO.

In this sense, Moscow again assured us that it is a "mistake" and said that accession will not mean a reinforcement of its security.

According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence, 264 Ukrainian soldiers were evacuated late Monday from the Azovstal steelworks in the port city of Mariupol, besieged for weeks by Kremlin troops.

The evacuation took place within the framework of an agreement reached between Russia and Ukraine, according to a statement issued by the Russian Defense Ministry. The document highlights that "as a result of negotiations with representatives of the Ukrainian Army besieged in the territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant, an agreement has been reached on the evacuation of the wounded."

Defence authorities in Kyiv said that 53 seriously injured people were transferred to a medical center in the town of Novoazovsk for medical treatment, and the other 211 people were evacuated to the city of Olenivka through a humanitarian corridor.

The Ukrainian president, Volodímir Zelensky, thanked in his usual nightly speech "the actions of the Ukrainian army", and said that he hopes that "the life of the negotiating team, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations" can be saved.

The US has gathered intelligence that shows some Russian officials are concerned that Russian troops in the devastated port city of Mariupol are committing serious violations, a US official familiar with the findings said Wednesday.

Russian officials are concerned that the violations will backfire and further inspire the residents of Mariupol to resist the Russian occupation. A US official, who was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity, said the Russians, who were not named, also fear that abuses will undermine Russia's claim to liberate the Russian-speaking city. According to intelligence, the violations include beating and electrocuting city officials, as well as looting houses.

The new intelligence was declassified and shared by a US official as some of the last Ukrainian fighters in the devastated city emerged from the destroyed Azovstal steel plant. The military ordered the fighter jets to leave the last stronghold of resistance in the now-destroyed port city and face an uncertain fate.

Hundreds of fighters held out for months under merciless shelling in the last bastion of resistance in the ruined city.
