Ground Report | New Delhi: GATE 2022 Plea in SC; The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition seeking postponement of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) examination.

In view of the third wave of Corona, there was a demand to postpone the examination, rejecting which the court said that postponing the examination will create a situation of 'disorder and uncertainty among the students.

Students may also note that as per the guidelines written on GATE 2022 Admit Card, thos who have symptoms are advised to not leave their home/isolation. However, in case there are candidates who are Asymptomatic or temperature higher than 99.4F etc., will be taken to Isolation area for proper examination. Students are informed again to read the guidelines on the admit card carefully.

GATE 2022 Exam rules suggest that COVID+ve students can't appear for the offline exam. The detailed guidelines on this have been listed on the GATE Admit Card 2022 and students must go through the instructions before reaching the exam centre.

There was a demand on social media to postpone this exam for a long time, but IIT Kharagpur had made it clear that the exam would be held on the scheduled date only. After this, some students filed an application in the Supreme Court regarding this demand. GATE 2022 exam is to be held on 05-06 February.

GATE 2022 has added two new papers Geomatics Engineering (GE) and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NM). The authorities claim that the new papers will provide direct benefits to graduates in these two areas, especially when the country needs human resources with advanced capabilities in Ship Building Industries and Geo-informatics.

GATE 2022 is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and six other Indian Institutes of Technology at Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Chennai, Roorkee & Indian Institute of Science at Bengaluru on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
