Ground Report | New Delhi: Fans abuse Mohammad Shami; Team India’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been abused on social media after Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets in the first match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Sana Saeed Twitter user wrote “Mohammad Shami is an Indian cricketer; a bowler. These are comments on his IG right now, with people claiming he took money from Pakistan that he was playing for Pakistan and helped India lose because he is a Muslim.”

Another user wrote “Many Muslim cricketers played for India in the past, will play now n even in the future.abusing somone based on religion/caste is a shameful act. I support Shami, it’s a game. Win n loss r eventual. Need to take it sportively. Yes I’m hurt with the loss but I won’t abuse!Jai hind”
One user wrote, ‘Killer Pakistani in Team India. Another wrote, ‘A Muslim took the side of Pakistan. How much money did you get?” “Sir, how much money did you get to help your community (Muslims) win?” asked another user identified as Saurabh Pandey.
Journalist Rana Ayyub Tweeted, The islamophobic hate against #shami with aspersions on his patriotism and his commitment to the country. If this and the state enabled hatred against Indian minorities is not worth taking a knee, I don’t know what is”
These are some of the comments on Mohammed Shami’s Instagram account. The hyper-nationalist Indian cricket fans have unleashed worst form of communal abuse on Shami for India’s loss against Pakistan. Not surprised at all because this is what India is famous for, Another user wrote”.
Another user wrote Rohit, Rahul, Jadeja, SKY, Pandya all failed with the bat. Shami, Bhuvi, Bumrah, Varun failed with the ball. But the only guy who’ll be blamed is the one who carried the team from 31-3 to 151. The streak had to end at some point.

Haris Rauf bowled the 14th over and he gave away 9 runs. After this the score of the Indian team was 96 runs at the loss of 4 wickets. Indian cricket team completed 100 runs at the end of the 15th over. Then Kohli was at the crease after scoring 37 runs and Ravindra Jadeja 6 runs.
