The police arrested a 25-year-old man in Bengaluru on Sunday for allegedly murdering his 24-year-old live-in partner with a pressure cooker. They identified the accused as Vaishnav, a native of Kollam and an engineering graduate.

Police reported that Padmadevi, who lived in Attingal, Thiruvananthapuram, sustained a serious head injury and sadly succumbed to blood loss following an attack by Vaishnav (24). Currently, charges are being pressed against Vaishnav for the incident.

The police said that Vaishnav killed Padmadevi suspecting that she was in a relationship with another person. The couple's residence in New Maco Layout was where the incident took place around 3.30 pm on Saturday. According to reports, an argument between the couple broke out and it led to the murder.

The police said that Devi's sister Krishna had counselled the couple at her residence on Saturday as the couple's relationship soured. After they returned from her house, Devi and Vaishnav allegedly had another argument flare up. The police said that Vaishnav allegedly hit Devi's head with a cooker multiple times in a fit of anger, leading to the woman's death.

Jealousy escalates: Man kills partner

On Saturday evening, an argument arose between the couple after Vaishnav suspected that Devi was in a relationship with another man. Vaishnav allegedly hit her with a pressure cooker multiple times, resulting in her instant death.

Police reported that the two had studied together in college and worked in the sales and marketing sector. Neighbors have informed police that they quarrelled often. However, police stated that none of them had filed a police complaint against each other in the past, according to NDTV.

The police said that as the couple's relationship soured, Devi's sister Krishna had counseled the two at her residence on Saturday. Soon after they returned from her house, Devi and Vaishnav allegedly engaged in another argument that flared up. In a fit of anger, Vaishnav allegedly hit Devi's head multiple times with a cooker, resulting in the woman's death, according to the police.

The police arrested Vaishnav a few hours later after he had fled the scene. He confessed to the wrongdoing, and authorities have accused him of committing murder.

The police said, "Vaishnav was jealous of Devi and did not trust her. He had been accusing her of infidelity for some time, and the argument on Saturday was the culmination of his suspicions."

The victim's family is in shock and grief. They state that Devi was a kind and gentle person who would never cheat on anyone. She is demanding justice for herself and expressing hope that the authorities will punish the accused to the maximum extent allowed by the law.
