'Don't take screenshot of Facebook Messenger chat, but why?

Ground Report | New Delhi: Screenshot of Facebook Messenger chat; Mark Zuckerberg, founder of social media website Facebook and CEO of Meta Company, has issued a warning to Facebook Messenger users who take screenshots of their chats.

He said in a Facebook post last Friday that an update to Face Messenger would notify users whose chat screenshot someone had taken. Mark Zuckerberg posted a screenshot of the conversation with his wife, Priscilla Chen, saying: "New update to end-to-end encrypted messenger chats so you get notifications if someone takes a screenshot of a missing message."

He added: "We are also adding gifs, stickers and reactions to secret chats." The announcement follows an update to the Facebook Messenger platform, which gives people the option to hide their messages.

According to USA Today, the feature has so far only been introduced in the United States and is expected to be introduced to Facebook users in Europe in the coming weeks. Users of Facebook Messenger's rival platform already have these options, and when a screenshot of a chat is taken, the user is notified.

It also includes Snapchat, while messaging apps like WhatsApp include end-to-end encryption. The move comes in response to concerns about security, online protection and wider controversy over freedom of expression, reports said.

In response to Mark Zuckerberg's post, one user wrote: 'When are you guys adding the Dislike button? We need answers." One user wrote in reference to the update in Facebook Messenger: 'Maybe it might find out how to feed the hungry or cure all the mental illness caused by these platforms, or maybe Homeless people should be given houses. These new updates to Facebook Messenger will also apply to Instagram, which is owned by Meta.
