Controversy over old tweet of new VC of JNU

Ground Report | New Delhi: Old tweet of new VC of JNU; BJP MP Varun Gandhi took a jibe at a press release issued by the new Vice-Chancellor of JNU. By tweeting, Varun Gandhi has said that this press release of the new JNU VC is an exhibition of illiteracy. He said that there are many grammatical errors in this press release. He has explained in detail what are the mistakes in the press release. Questioning the appointment of the new VC, he has written that such average appointments harm the future of our youth.

A day earlier, the Education Ministry has appointed Shantisree Dhulipudi Pandit as the new VC of JNU. In the press release issued by the VC, he has thanked PM Modi and the Ministry of Education for his appointment. Shantisree Dhulipudi Pandit is the first woman vice-chancellor of JNU. However, many people have raised questions about his appointment. Yogendra Yadav of Swaraj India has raised questions on his appointment by posting screenshots of his old tweets.

CPI(ML)’s Kavita Krishnan has also raised questions on the Modi government, referring to the old Twitter feed of the new JNU VC. The Modi regime’s new JNU VC has a twitter feed full of unhinged Hindu-supremacist bile against educational institutions founded by Muslims or Christians, & against India’s farmers, plus it’s full of #Covidconspiracy theories. She actively hates JNU.

Old tweet of new VC of JNU

The controversy over his old tweet on the appointment of Professor Shantisree Dhulipudi Pandit as VC at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi. After the announcement of Dhulipudi’s name, tweets of unverified Twitter accounts in his name started being shared. Those tweets were critical of JNU students and farmers. However, her account was later deactivated.

Dhulipudi is the first woman VC of JNU. He has obtained MPhil and PhD degree from JNU itself. Professor Shantisree Dhulipudi Pandit was Professor of Political and Public Administration Department at Savitribai Phule University in Pune, Maharashtra before assuming the new responsibility.
